The Second Kinder-Uni at University of Padjadjaran (UNPAD) – from November 3rd to December 15th 2012

After the success of the first Kinder-Uni in December 2011, the second Kinder-Uni will be held this year at Padjadjaran University in Bandung as an initiative of the DAAD alumni. In the months of November and December the alumni will be offering interesting lecture programmes for children between 10 and 12.
The elementary school students can collect their first experiences on how things are at a university and discuss scientific questions they have, for instance; “How can water produce electricity?” or “Why are there fairytales?”. These are a few examples of the themes being discussed this year. For an overview of the entire Kinder-Uni schedule, visit: this.
To satisfy the thirst of knowledge of these children, German universities have held these so called Kinder-Unis for the past 10 years. These programme series, which are designed for children between 6 and 12, are carried out by professors at their universities. The intention is to draw children closer to science and intrigue their fascination towards it.
The Kinder-Uni programme this year is held within the scope of the JERIN programme.

  EHEF 2012 back in Jakarta

As in previous years, on 3rd & 4th November 2012, the European Higher Education Fair, "EHEF" took place in Jakarta. 14 countries were represented by 97 institutions with an equal amount of booths. Among the 8500 EHEF-visitors throughout the whole weekend, the DAAD booth seemed to be one of the main attractions with about 1000 interested people. Pupils, students and even a lot of parents came to inform themselves about "Studying in Germany". This became very obvious during the presentation which DAAD held about studying in Germany and the most important facts about Germany. Just like the DAAD booth, the presentation room was crowded with interested people, so that at first it was a challenge to answer every question, but the DAAD staff gave their best. In the end, almost every visitor left the booth content and with the right information brochure.

The DAAD-team was glad to find out through the evaluation of questionnaires given to the visitors that the interest to come to Germany, whether is it to study, to do research, to work or even for an internship, is still very high..
